Reviewing our time together over the past year we have managed to accomplish so much. From reaching out to more seniors and increasing our membership, launching our new Preferred Service Providers service, hosting a variety of events such as the Drum Circle in the Garden, a Virtual tour of the Tsuut’ina Taza Development and our regular events, for example Men’s and Women’s groups, Spanish lessons and Wednesday Walkers. With COVID-19 adding stress to our event and program planning, the OSA Leadership Team came to the conclusion that we should take a break from introducing anything new until the New Year when we are all refreshed. We attended a recent session on gratitude with our Ignite Neighbours team members (our major funders) that was devoted to self-care. Other groups shared that COVID-19 has many leaders feeling the same way. Our funding managers at Calgary Seniors Resource Society have assured us that taking a break will not cause any reduction in financial support. They will be ready to come alongside us in 2021 to make a difference for seniors in Oakridge and surrounding communities. We came to an amicable agreement with Janice our manager to cease her role and fortunately we have had volunteers step forward to assume those responsibilities. Bless our volunteers! Our existing events will continue with a special fun Christmas Eve happy hour. Please join Sheila and Ted Foster on Zoom for holiday cheer at 4 p.m. December 24. Pull out your ugly Christmas sweater or your glamorous gladrags! Pour your favorite libation, grab the smoked salmon nibbles. Get ready to share your joy with other like-minded neighbours intent on capturing the new spirit of the holidays. Click here to register. We wish you all the joys of the holiday season, however you choose to celebrate. Looking forward to a great 2021, Barry Pendergast, President, OSA
