Stay Well! Stay Home! What's New Check the Events and Programs Calendar pages for new and old programs – note some regular programs at new times in future. OSA will plan programs from 10:00 - 11:00 a.m. and 2:00 - 3:00 p.m. where possible. The Program Planning committee has been busy identifying possible programs and finding presenters for future Zoom sessions. Check back regularly for new additions to the calendar. Or send us your suggestions for things you think we can safely do together. OSA is again actively hiring a new part-time manager for our virtual office. Watch for a new team member soon to speed up the process of neighbours more efficiently helping neighbours. OAKS Walkers now Monday, Wednesday and Friday at 2:00 p.m. Everything tells us we need to be more active. Let’s start up the walking program again three afternoons a week for up to an hour. Starting at the Oakridge Community Centre parking lot, we will plan to meet, chat at a safe distance, and cover some ground. Bring your poles to up the strength level. Anyone interested in a challenge? Set a goal. Maybe walk from Calgary to Jasper first of all and see many beautiful sights on the way. Or walk the length of Vancouver Island. Or walk part of the Camino to Compostela. You choose and set goals for one another. Excellent Senior Exercise Programs Emma Kobelsky tells us More Life Health Seniors on YouTube has excellent short and long programs tailored to seniors and led by a physiotherapist. Here are some good ideas. https://montrealgazette.com/health/diet-fitness/fitness-how-to-take-steps-to-improve-your-home-workout Neighbourhood Safety There have been increasing safety issues in our neighbourhood, despite that we enjoy one of the lowest crime rates in the city. Be sure to report suspicious activity right away. Trent Taylor, our neighbourhood CPS contact reports: “If something is in progress, citizens should call 911. If it is just to report suspicious behaviour, call 403-266-1234. Every two weeks we sit down with our admin team and analyst here at the district, and discuss areas of high crime and what to do about it.” Village Concept Your board is working on initial reporting on our grant funding for the Village concept. President Barry and VP Julie will prepare a Zoom session to present to all members soon and bring us up to date with amazing progress so far, despite the severe restrictions of COVID-19.
