President* - Barry Pendergast

 

Resident and parent in Oakridge since 1972 with Jennifer, his wife of 60 years. Barry is a retired architect with an extensive background in social, residential and community design projects. He has volunteered in a number of capacities including with the Alberta Association of Architects, the University of Calgary Senate and numerous civic and industry groups. Barry has also served as an associate adjunct professor and lecturer at the University of Calgary, most recently giving presentations on the use of virtual reality technology. He is increasingly  focussed on seniors issues as a volunteer in multiple organizations and as a researcher using advanced technology to assist patients with dementia. OSA Focus: Making Oakridge a successful multi-generation community; committed to the principles of ageing in place and the formation of a vibrant Oakridge Seniors Village.  

Vice President*/Acting Secretary - Julie Kearns

Resident in Oakridge since 1978, married to Jim, parent of 3 and grandma to 8. Julie is a semi-retired adult educator and evaluation consultant, following 32 years as a faculty member at the University of Calgary. Julie is also a board member of the Oakridge Community Association. In her free time Julie enjoys genealogy and gardening. OSA Focus: Making Oakridge a community for all ages and building OSA into a strong and viable organization. 

Treasurer* - Shelley Goldstein

Resident of Oakridge since 2012, married to Ken, parent of 4, step-parent of 4, Nana to 12.  Shelley is a Certified Professional Bookkeeper (CPB) with more than 35 years’ experience.  She is passionate about helping businesses move their books to the cloud.  She works with business owners to help them better understand the financial side of running their business.  Her interests include walking, reading, gardening, knitting and languages. OSA focus: Moving our accounting records to the cloud, financial viability, accountability and sustainability.

Director - Sheila Foster

Resident of Oakridge since 1976, married to Ted (52 years) no children. Sheila is a retired President of Target Communications and Accredited member International Association of Business Communicators (ABC). She is an independent contractor with public sector, private sector and not-for-profit clients. Sheila has a business background of twenty-five years in the automobile industry (London, England,) insurance (Toronto) and oil and gas exploration and development (Calgary). She is a graduate and past PR Advisory Committee chair of the Mount Royal University Public Relations program. OSA Focus: Marketing & Communications.

Director - Yvette Nesry

Resident of Oakridge since 2011. Yvette has fifteen years of experience as a licensed Alberta realtor and is a Senior Real Estate Specialist, assisting older Adults 50+ with their decisions to make a move whether it’s downsizing or moving to a more supportive environment. She also is certified/accredited in condominiums, buying, staging and relocation. Yvette has been a member of the Calgary Assessment Review Board for 8 years. OSA Focus: Social Activities.

Director - Jennifer Pendergast

Jennifer has served in a number of volunteer roles in the Oakridge Community & with Mount Royal University & Canadian Mental Health. She has extensive experience in the field of early child education as an owner of  two pre-schools, as a teacher, teaching  child care students at a community college and as a practicum supervisor.  With Barry, Jennifer  also served as trainer and course  facilitator for 18 years with an international  marriage and family organization. She is currently assisting  teachers  in the kindergarten at Louis Riel School  as Grandma Jenn. OSA Focus: Activities and Events.
