About the Event
Jeromy Farkas is the Ward 11 Councillor for the City of Calgary. Elected in 2017 on a mandate of fiscal responsibility, transparency and accountability, Jeromy has been no stranger to standing up for Calgarians and representing the will of the citizens who reside in his ward.
This commitment to Calgarians has shone through in Jeromy’s monthly town halls, which quickly became standing-room only events held throughout the ward and have continued on virtually since the COVID-19 pandemic hit.
A born and raised Calgarian who grew up in the community of Dover, Jeromy proudly hails from Hungarian immigrants who fled a communist regime to come to Calgary and provide a better life, with better opportunities. This determination is what led Jeromy to develop a passion for politics and public service, following his studies at the University of Calgary, fellowship at the Manning Centre and success as a small business owner.
Over the last three years, Jeromy’s advocacy includes speaking out against council’s secret, closed-door meetings, council’s remuneration, tax hikes during the pandemic, cuts to the police budget and the costly SW Bus Rapid Transit build. He has also worked hard to help the Ward 11 community associations achieve their projects and initiatives and make their communities better places to live and work in.
Through it all, Jeromy has demonstrated genuine care and commitment to his constituents through rallying for change at City Hall. He takes great pride in making time for every single Calgarian who needs his help.
